OVERSEAS ADOPTIONS

Noah's Ark adopt dogs at cost - so what you pay only covers the actual cost to the shelter of the adoption. This includes export paperwork & pet passport, vet check, crate cost, flight/travel costs. It may also cover spay/neuter and other vaccination expenses. If you would like to make a further donation to help Noah's Ark with food and keep and other medical expenses, we would be very, very grateful!

HOME CHECK

Once you have discussed the dog you would like to adopt with Noah's Ark and both parties are in agreement that the adoption enquiry can go ahead, you will need to send your home address and contact details to Noah's Ark so that the arrangements can be made for a home check. The purpose of the home check is to make sure that the environment you are offering is suitable for the dog that you are considering.

DEPOSIT & ADOPTION RESERVATION

Once the home check is approved and accepted, we will ask you to complete an adoption form and send a reservation adoption fee of € 150 via PayPal. This is to cover the expenses of the pet passport which will now be put in process. The minimum requirements for a valid pet passport are a rabies vaccine and microchip and the animal can only travel at least 21 days after the rabies vaccine is administered . Noah's Ark always vaccinate their dogs for ...... and adult animals will be spayed or neutered before travel if they are old enough. For puppies, Noah's Ark will require an assurance that the spay/neuter will be done at the new owner's cost, once the animal is around 6 months old.

Your dog is now marked as "reserved for adoption" and arrangements will now start for travel.

Please note that for UK adoptions, there is no longer any UK quarantine requirement for dogs coming in from Cyprus. The pet passport mentioned above is all that is required for your dog to come to the UK.

TRAVEL COSTS

The cost of travel for your adoptive dog depends mainly on the size/weight of the dog plus crate, but fares (and the way of charging) varies between airlines too. Your Noah's Ark volunteer travel coordinators will do all they can to find the most cost effective way to get your dog to you. At the time of your enquiry, we will do our best to give you a maximum estimate of the cost.

EXPORT PROCESS IN CYPRUS

Your dog will be taken for their "fit to fly' certificate from the vet 24-48 hours before departure from Cyprus. Within 24 hours of departure, a volunteer will go to the government vet services to get the "traces" for your dog. The traces are the papers that are required for exporting a pet from Cyprus. At this point you will need to confirm the name of your dog (if you are changing it) as this is what is needed on the traces paperwork.

THE FLIGHT

For UK adoptions, all dogs have to be flown in as cargo. For other European countries the dog may fly as cargo or may fly accompanied by a flight volunteer. A Noah's Ark volunteer will make all the flight arrangements and, at the time of booking, you will need to pay the flight cost, any crate costs and also any further transport costs on arrival at the home destination. The final part is for you to pick up your new pet and take him or her home !
